版畫油墨的主要成份是顏料和油性媒劑 (Vehicle)。最常用的媒劑是經過提煉的亞麻仁油 (Burnt Plate Oil 或 Varnish)，它的作用是把顏料、油墨改良劑 (Ink Modifier) 等材料黏合起來，調成油墨(Ink Mixing)。調成的油墨要細細地研磨(Milling)，使顏料的粒子和媒劑完全融合。
從原生土煉製顏料，再製成油墨並沒有現成的配方。李美娟從零開始，以《B.Rd 24-28/I/100》的一百色，尋找顏料和調合劑的完美比例，調配出獨特的油墨，最後，以凸版畫印製出365日的色彩。
是次示範，藝術家李美娟將展示其從原生土煉製顏料，製成油墨，再印製版畫的過程。自地理系畢業的版畫家何尚恩亦會參與其中，與觀眾一同探索原生土與油墨間的獨特色彩。

The major ingredients of printmaking ink are pigment and vehicle – a liquid that holds the pigment particles together. To produce inks, burnt plate oil is used as the vehicle to bind the pigments and ink modifiers. After combining the ingredients, each ink should be milled finely to ensure the pigment particles and vehicle were well mixed.
There is no recipe to follow for making inks from the primary soil pigments. Carol Lee had to start from scratch and search for the best ratio between pigment and binder. Ultimately, she made relief prints for 365 days with the inks prepared from selected pigments of the 100 colours of “B.Rd 24-28/1/100”.
In this demonstration, Carol Lee will showcase her process of refining pigments from primary soil, transforming them into pigment and ink, and finally utilising the inks to create prints. Printmaker Nicolas Ho, who graduated from the Department of Geography, will be the moderator, joining the audience in exploring the unique colours between primary soil and ink.
